‘Lean Into Me’ is the latest track from Max Winter. The track is as unique as Max’s output normally is, with a sense of genre-defying spontaneity running through it. A jazzy piano sample in 7/8 underpins a conversational vocal duet between him and guest vocalist IMOGEN, with heavenly melodies seemingly being all that was required to turn this simple idea into a full track. “Lean Into Me was based on a piano riff I came up with whilst actually teaching a piano lesson,” he explains. “At home, I recorded it, looped it and recorded some quick lyrics over it. I showed it to IMOGEN and together we crafted the rest. It only took 2 sessions. It was a very spontaneous process.” Despite eschewing his usual focus on heavily developed sound and texture, ‘Lean Into Me’ is a great example of Max Winter’s individualistic creativity.
